Description of the monument to Mary Bartus at Lychakiv Cemetery

A short note mentions Maria Bartusówna, the poetess, and the question of erecting a monument to her in Lviv's Lychakiv Cemetery (Source: Tygodnik Illustrowany, Warsaw 1907, Półrocze II, p. 922, after: University of Lodz Digital Library).

A modernised reading of the text

From the Łyczakowski cemetery.

The name of Maria Bartosówna, a poet famous a quarter of a century ago, was again on the lips of thousands last week. It happened because of the erection of a monument on this grave in Lviv, where the morning of the short life of the late Maria, full of clouds, had gathered. Lonely, loving, though not loved, she hummed like a lark simply sincere, and peculiarly, her song is a song of the heart, and can only be felt with the heart. A talent that unfortunately did not manage to express itself. Her teachers, most of whom were contemporaries of her, also paid a valuable debt of friendship, thus perpetuating the memory of the luminous figure of Bartus.
