Polish graves in the Neuer Katholischer Friedhof cemetery in Dresden

Among others, Czesław Jóźwiak, Edward Kaźmierski, Jarogniew Wojciechowski, Franciszek Kęsy and Eduard Klinik are buried in the Neuer Katholischer Friedhof cemetery in Dresden. These young men, known as the "Poznań Five", were arrested in 1940 on suspicion of conspiratorial activity against the Third Reich. All then aged between 19 and 23, they were sentenced to death in Dresden in 1942. In 1999, John Paul II proclaimed them blessed, together with 103 other Polish martyrs of the Second World War.
