On the southern edge of the resort, in the complex of spa parks, there are several monuments to prominent artists who once frequented Karlovy Vary (including Ludwig van Beethoven, Friedrich Schiller and Bedřich Smetana). At the entrance gate to the courtyard of the elegant Richmond Hotel, a magnificent statue of Mickiewicz was erected in 1897. The original bust of the poet was made by the well-known Lvov sculptor Tadeusz Barącz, the author of many monuments, including the Mickiewicz monument in Truskavets. The author of the stone pedestal was Jan Cingroš from Pilsen, and the founders were Polish visitors to the resort. This commemorated Mickiewicz's stay in Karlsbad in the summer of 1829, when he stopped there with Antoni E. Odyniec on his way from Dresden to Weimar. The house where he stayed for a few weeks was decorated in the late 19th century with a medallion by Wiktor Brodzki (the house was rebuilt later, now there is only a commemorative plaque on the façade). In 1870, it was Odyniec who pointed out the house of the poet's temporary residence. It was then decided to set up a Commemorative Book there, bearing the mark of A. M. and the dates 1829-1870, initiated by Count Aleksander Przeździecki. The book with the poet's tribute was quickly filled with entries by, among others, Odyniec, J.I. Kraszewski. In 1893, Poles staying in Karlsbad formed a committee to build a monument to Adam Mickiewicz and a Polish House.

Damaged during the Second World War (according to some accounts already in 1938), the monument was restored by the efforts of the local authorities in 1947, the original bust was replaced by a smaller one, essentially referring to the sculpture of Barącz, by the local artist Břetislav Werner (1911-1986), known in the Czech Republic mainly as a painter, but also as a graduate of the highly regarded sculpture school in Hořice. Made of polished Swedish porphyry, the high pedestal (with the signature J. CINGROŠ / PLZEŇ on the left side) is decorated with bronze reliefs featuring a lyre against a background of laurel leaves and flames symbolising inspiration. On the pedestal are engraved gilded inscriptions: "ADAM / MICKIEWICZ / EXCELLENTISSIMUS / POETA POLONIAE. / *17 24./XII. 98. / + 18 26./IX. 55" (on the front face); while on the back of the plinth: "ADAMOWI / MICKIEWICZOWI / SWEMU WIESZCZOWI / POLACY BAWIACY / W KARLSBADZIE. / 1897." The appearance of the pedestal does not seem to have changed substantially since the end of the 19th century, while originally the monument was surrounded by a circular flower bed, which disappeared over time.
