Monuments to John III Sobieski and Stephen Batory on Prato della Valle in Padua

The note reports on two monuments to Polish kings, Stefan Batory and Jan III Sobieski, located in the Prato della Valle square in Padua. Both were commissioned by King Stanislaus August Poniatowski in 1789 and were created by Giovanni Ferrari. On the inscriptions of the monuments, one can read that both kings studied at the Padua university, which in fact is not the case. Information published in the journal "Sztuki Piękne",1926/1927, no. 12, p. 465 (public domain, reprinted from the Library of the University of Silesia, Katowice).
