Information about the object:
The painting of the Prayer in the Garden was exhibited at the altar of the Transfiguration of Christ located at the close of the southern nave of the Latin Cathedral in Lviv. Both paintings in this altarpiece were painted by Jozef Chojnicki: in the field the Transfiguration painting, oil/canvas, 1775, and on the slider - Christ in the Garden, oil/canvas, 1775. Currently, due to its state of preservation, the painting remains removed from the altarpiece and is stored in the sacristy of the Cathedral.

Completed works:
The state of preservation of the work, the subject of the project, was extremely poor. The necessary conservation and restoration work consisted of stopping further destruction of the object and stabilising the technological layers of the original by improving their mechanical properties, as well as restoring the painting's artistic and aesthetic values, the aesthetic perception of which had been disrupted by the dramatic damage. Once all the necessary work has been carried out, the work will be placed in its original place, i.e., on the slider in the Transfiguration altarpiece.
