Information about the object:
The cemetery was established at the end of the 19th century, on the initiative of Antoni Półmack. Clean-up works were carried out on it in 2019-2021.

2019
The works consisted in removing shrubs and small self-sown trees from the eastern and western parts of the Polish cemetery, removing the humus layer from the main avenue.

2021
The Oder-Niemen Association organised a trip to Krzemieniec and Shumsk in Ukraine as part of the project in July 2021, where work was carried out on the Polish cemetery in Krzemieniec and additionally on the cemetery in Shumsk.

The Polish cemetery in Krzemieniec is one of five cemeteries in the city, but the only Roman Catholic one. This was also the case in the interwar period, when local Poles were buried here. It was also a place where state and historical ceremonies were held. The cemetery contains, among others, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the interwar period. The Polish cemetery remains the responsibility of the Catholic Church in Ukraine to this day.

Work on the cemetery in Krzemieniec was already carried out by the association in 2019. This year, work continued in all areas of this large necropolis. The vegetation overgrowing the cemetery was mowed, some of the inscriptions on the gravestones were repainted, as well as some of the crosses, fences and gravestones. At the cemetery in Szumsk, the works lasted 3 days. During this time, the very neglected old Roman Catholic cemetery was cleared of overgrown weeds and unnecessary vegetation.
