Site information:
Bwana Mkubwa, Mbala, Livingstone, Chipata are the sites of former Polish exile settlements in Zambia. The first transports of Poles from Soviet captivity arrived there in February 1943. Their sites included day-care centres, a hospital, libraries, theatres, Polish general and vocational schools.

,,Scout Africa 2020: We remember. Polish necropolises in Africa" is a project aimed at finding and taking care of Polish memorial sites in Africa, acquiring documentation and building awareness of the fate of Polish exiles with the Anders Army at home and abroad. It is a continuation of the activities carried out by the instructors of the Polish Scouting Association in cooperation with the Documentation Centre of Displacement and Resettlement of UP in Krakow, the Polish Association in Johannesburg in 2018 and 2019. After finding and restoring a cemetery in Rusape, this year's expedition of trained scout volunteers, working with historians who were among the first to address the protection of Polish memorials in Africa, focused on reaching, cleaning, repainting, inventorying and documenting 4 Polish necropolises in Zambia.
