Information about the object:
The parish was erected in the mid-14th century during the reign of Casimir III the Great. The furnishings of the first parish church were funded by King Jogaila in 1427. In the 17th century, as a result of repeated disasters, fires and invasions, it was destroyed again. It was later rebuilt and repaired several times. The worst fire, in 1886, led to the ruin of the church and the complete destruction of its valuable furnishings. The reconstruction of the church, carried out according to a design by J. Zachariewicz, took five years and was completed in 1891.

The nave of the church was built on a rectangular plan. It is complemented by two short, narrow and low chapels, which serve as side aisles, as well as a presbytery (short pentagonal) and a three-sided sacristy. To the right of the façade rises a tall, square-plan tower. The façade ornamentation of the facade and tower is rich, in contrast to the rest of the church. The façade of the chapel consists of richly decorated Renaissance architectural details (17th century) - a remnant of the façade of the former mausoleum of the Narayov and Kashov families. On the facades there are plaques dedicated to John III Sobieski - erected in 1933, a plaque placed on the 250th anniversary of the relief of Vienna, and a plaque dedicated to Tadeusz Kościuszko - erected in 1917, on the 100th anniversary of the death of the Commander-in-Chief. The church also has a plaque (from 1883) commemorating John III Sobieski and the 200th anniversary of the victory at Vienna.
After the Second World War the church was not closed, one of the few in Ukrainian Subcarpathia, it was continuously active, thanks to which it avoided further destruction and entirely preserved the uniform neo-Gothic furnishings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

2020 (stage II)
The project is the second stage of restoration work on the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The task includes renovation of the front elevation of the church - lower part, and the elevation of the church tower - upper part.

2021 (stage III)
This is the next (III) stage of the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary renovation works. Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Stryi (Lviv Archdiocese in the Stryi decanship).

As part of the renovation and restoration work of the church façade, the following were carried out: study work (development of an expert opinion on the dampness and salinity of the walls, causes and means of protection) and renovation work on the façade of the church tower.
