Biography:

Teodor Regedziński (1894-1954), born in Łódź, was a chess player.

He came from a craftsman's family from Aleksandrów Łódzki. He studied law in Lodz and worked at the local Health Fund. He was a leading player of the Łódź Chess Supporters Association and participated in all four pre-war finals of the Polish Championships, achieving the best result in 1927 (4th place).

He repeatedly represented Poland at international team tournaments, including the Chess Olympiads in 1928, 1933, 1937 and 1939, winning a silver and two bronze medals. In 1936 he took part in the unofficial Chess Olympiad in Berlin, where the Polish team came second.

After the outbreak of World War II, he was the only member of the Polish team to return from the Buenos Aires Olympics to the occupied country. Listed on the Volkslist, he took the surname Reger and participated in tournaments organised by the Third Reich. For refusing to train German players, he was sent to the Eastern Front as an interpreter. After the war he served a four-year sentence in a labour camp. In later years he appeared less frequently at tournaments, but in 1952 he finished fifth in the Polish championships.

According to the Chessmetrics system, his highest ranking was in August 1937, when he was the 64th player in the world.
