Biography:

Zbigniew Stanisław Libera born in 1959 in Pabianice, artist, author of installations, video installations, photographs and performances.

He studied pedagogy at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, but dropped out. In the 1980s he collaborated with the democratic opposition, for which he was imprisoned. Associated with the Łódź-based Kultura Zrzuty, he co-founded the magazine "Tango". Collaborated with the Raster Gallery.

One of the forerunners of critical art and queer aesthetics in Poland. His works, including 'Lego. Concentration Camp', 'Positives', 'How girls are trained', analyse cultural and media mechanisms. Winner of many awards, in 2023 he was awarded the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity and the Officer's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland.
