Mass grave of the Lithuanian police victims, commemorated by a monument

On the night of 19-20 May 1942, Lithuanians belonging to the auxiliary police collaborating with the Germans arrested men and women in Hoduciszki and nearby Komai. On 20 May, at least 30 of the arrested men were shot by the Lithuanians on the edge of Hoduciszki, near the Paszuna farm.

This execution was part of a crime carried out at the same time in nearby Swieciany and was in retaliation for an attack on the Germans by Soviet partisans, which resulted in the death of Administrator Beck.

After the execution, the Lithuanians ordered the surviving Poles to dig a common grave measuring 4 x 4 metres. No cross was then allowed to be placed on this grave.

In 1984, the grave was cleaned up and a memorial was placed on it. On 24.05.1992 a wooden cross was inserted between the elements of the memorial and a wooden sculpture was placed next to it.

The monument has the shape of concrete walls, slightly undulating, passing each other in the central part. In the left corner, in a panel, an oak element with an inscription in Lithuanian and Russian is placed. Two rows of concrete slabs are laid in front of the monument. In 2010. The Polish Consulate placed granite slabs with the names of the victims in front of the cross and the sculpture.

The inscription in Lithuanian reads: " Šioje vietoje palaidoti hitleriniu okupantu 1942. V. 20 nužudyti 33 adutiškio apylinkes cyventojai".

Inscription in Russian: "Zdieś pogrebieny 33 żitelja adutišskoj apilinki 20. V. 1942 ubityje gitlerovskim okupantami".
