Votive statue

Zastawie | Ukraine

Statue of the Virgin and Child on plinth and base, in band. The figure on its own base. The Virgin Mary depicted frontally wearing a long robe and cloak, with a crown on her head. Her long hair falls down her back. In her arms she holds the Child with the facial features of a young man, wearing a knee-length tunic tied at the waist, with a crown on his head. He raises his right hand in blessing, his left hand, lowered, presents an open gesture. The plinth is covered with a moulded panel, with teardrops. On the front an engraved frame enclosed by an overhanging full arch, within which is an engraved inscription (1). On the back and sides of the plinth carved frames with quarter-circle chamfered corners, decorated with glazing. The base is glazed, with a plaque with an engraved inscription attached to the front (2). The band with bas-relief floral motifs, glazed, preceded by a rectangular panel.
