Biography:

Antoni Brochwicz-Lewiński (1902-1990), born in the estate of Wojsławice, a qualified artillery officer of the Polish Army of the Second Republic and the Polish Armed Forces, appointed Brigadier-General by the President of the Republic of Poland in exile, member of the Third Council of the Polish Republic. He took part in the disarmament of the Germans in Kalisz (XI 1918-I 1919), the war against the Bolsheviks (1920). On 24 September 1924, he was appointed second lieutenant, promoted to lieutenant on 21 December 1925, and promoted to captain on 27 June 1935. He worked for the army in Kalisz and Gniezno. In October 1939, he was taken prisoner by the Soviets. From October 1941, he served as a caretaker officer in the Command of the Polish Armed Forces in the USSR. On 11 December 1941, he was promoted to major. Subsequently, he was active in the Polish Army in the East. From September 1947, he was in the Polish Resettlement Corps. He was promoted to colonel on 15 August 1955. From 12th March 1957, he took an active part in Polish activities in exile: in the Council of the Republic of Poland, he served as Minister of Defence, Brigadier-General (from 15th August 1962), holding office until the appointment of the new government (1965). He was also a member of the Third Council of the Republic of Poland, served as Inspector General of the Armed Forces, and was a member of the Chapter of the War Order of the Virtuti Militari.
