Bialogruda cemetery

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Anna Lewkowska, Jacek Lewkowski and Wojciech Walczak: "It is a former parish cemetery, active (...) established on a rectangular plan with a rounded western corner, it is not divided into plots and alleys apart from one path running irregularly in the north-south direction. The entire area of the cemetery is approximately 1.5 ha. The oldest part of the cemetery with gravestones is concentrated around the church. (...) The state of preservation of the cemetery is very good" The cemetery contains the largest number of contemporary gravestones. In the oldest one, from 1851, Krzysztof Podhajski is buried. It is partially reconstructed and has the form of a marble pedestal with a finial in the form of an iron cross. According to researchers, few other gravestones from the 19th century have survived. There are several World War II graves in the cemetery with inscriptions: "Died. Death by Tragedy", "Death by Martyrdom", "Death by Martyrdom". Death by martyrdom", "died a tragic death". Among those buried here is Walentyna Kuncewiczowa, a member of the Kresy Landowners' Association, who was shot dead in October 1942. Following the Lewkowski and Walczak families, it is worth mentioning the gravestone of "Dr Waldemar Adolph and his sister Ludwika from 1875. The stylised rocks are carved into a single block of granite. The arms of the cross terminate in a trilobed shape, at the intersection of the arms the figure of Christ." Inscription: "TO THE DEATH OF THE DEAD / WALDEMAR / WALDEMAR / ADOLPH / DIED 6 APRIL 1875. / SISTERS LUDWIKA / ADOLPH D.20. NOVEMBER 1874". "Nearby an interesting in form tombstone with an inscription in Latin by Elias Kozarin Wawrzyniec Owierbut dated 1875."
