Cemetery in Lubar

The Catholic cemetery in Lubar is located in the eastern part of the town at a distance of a few hundred metres from the church of St Michael the Archangel and St Dominic. In the 1990s, when it was described by Zbigniew Hauser, it was neglected, but it is known that after 2000 the cemetery was cleaned up by volunteers from Lower Silesia http://https://umwd.dolnyslask.pl/urzad/aktualnosci/artykul/mogile-pradziada-ocal-od-zapomnienia-2013-2/ .

The cemetery dates back to the beginning of the 19th century - the oldest inscription contains the date of death on 27 May 1838. Very interesting gravestone monuments have been preserved in the area. Some of them are particularly impressive, such as the tomb of the Kalitowskis topped by a full-length sculpture of a female figure supported by a vase. Hauser reports that many tombstones, including this one, have been devastated. A standout gravestone is the monument to Stanisława Oświęcimska and Jakub Glechnowicz-Stecki - an obelisk of black stone, on rocks with an inscription sheet. Originally there was also a photograph on it. An elaborate, poetic inscription was engraved on the obelisk. There are more such elaborate inscriptions in the Catholic cemetery. Hauser also noted three tombstones in the form of a knotted tree. One of them is marked with the signature: "J. Dług [?] Zytomier". Hauser lists about 30 gravestones. Some are unnamed, others in a completely residual state
