Multi-faith cemetery in Magierow

Located in the western part of the township, the cemetery was established around the mid-19th century, as indicated by the dates of the epitaphs on the wall of the chapel and the inscriptions on some of the 'Podolia' crosses.

The old part of the cemetery with inscriptions in Polish is overgrown and closed. Behind it stretches the new communal cemetery, where Ukrainian inscriptions already predominate.

According to Hauser, the cemetery lacks tombstones of greater artistic value. However, he draws attention to the rocks with a knotted cross on the grave of Fr Szczęsny Tarczyński (d. 1901) or the folk stone crucifix on the grave of Barczyszyn and Katarzyna Dyś.

Hauser also cites the 'Geographical Dictionary', which mentions a chapel in the cemetery, 'in which services are sometimes held' and describes it. It is brick, eclectic and dates from the second half of the 19th century. The entrance door is surmounted by a pointed arch and the gable is stepped.

Documentation has been produced for the cemetery (50 cards stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).
