Biography:

Franciszek Lilpop (1870-1937), born in Warsaw, son of Edward and Maria Karolina, née Werner, architect. Between 1886 and 1894 he studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Riga Polytechnic. In 1885 he moved to Warsaw, where he began working for the architect Jozef Dziekoński and later established his own architectural studio. In 1903, together with Karol Jankowski, he founded a company called 'Biuro Architektoniczne Franciszek Lilpop i Karol Jankowski'. In their studio they designed, among other things, the famous Jabłkowscy Brothers Department Store in Warsaw. Lilpop was a co-founder of the Circle of Architects in Warsaw, the Delegation of Polish Architects to the Association of Technicians, and the magazine 'Architektura i Budownictwo'. He headed the Referral of State Buildings and Grounds in the Ministry of Agriculture and State Property, and from 1924 he taught industrial construction at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology.
