Tomb chapel in Popovce

Rectangular chapel with a narrower and lower semicircular chancel, oriented, on a plinth, built of irregular sandstone blocks, originally plastered, covered with a gable roof. The façade is probably originally framed by pilasters. On the axis, a doorway closed with a flattened arch. In it originally a two-wing (now single) wooden door. Triangular gable crowned with a figure of St Barbara (?) and possibly figures of angels. In the field of the gable a panel from a nonpreserved inscription plaque. The side walls have irregularly placed window openings. In the north wall, one rectangular window with inward opening. In the south wall, two semicircular and one rectangular, also branched inwards. The building was once surrounded by a cornice. The roof was originally gabled, in the chancel part it is tripartite, covered with shingles (nowadays with sheet metal). The interior is rectangular in plan, with a strongly insulated dark chancel, covered with a ceiling (now gone). Wooden altar with retable in which a painting was originally presented. Walls and ceiling decorated with paintings created in the 1920s-30s. From the entrance to the presbytery in illusionistic frames to the left and right respectively: two holy bishops (St. Adalbert and St. Stanislaus?), St. Catherine and St. Helen and two apostles (St. Peter?, St. Paul?). Above the altar mensa two kneeling and adoring angels. The whole chancel is surrounded by a frieze with a motif of stylised vine leaves and grape vines. On the ceiling from the entrance to the chancel: Last Supper, angels holding the cross, Holy Trinity (not extant). Under the chapel a crypt. Above the chancel an attic (now gone). Inside the chapel on the north wall just inside the entrance a rectangular panel, possibly from an inscription plaque.
