Tadeusz Kościuszko, actually Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kościuszko (1746-1817), born in Mereczowszczyzna, son of Ludwik Tadeusz Kościuszko and Tekla Kościuszko, née Ratomska, military engineer, author of military fortifications of the Continental Army, Brigadier-General of the American Army (1783), Supreme Commander of the National Armed Forces during the Kościuszko Uprising, Lieutenant-General of the army of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
