POLISH CEMETERIES

The catalogue is prepared in accordance with the principles of documentation of historical objects (adapted to the specifics of burial culture) and mainly includes written funerary inscriptions and photographs of the objects, as well as descriptions, information on the material used, state of preservation, dimensions. The catalogue thus constitutes a complete documentation of historical objects...

The catalog is intended to eventually include documentation on cemeteries and tombstones that has been collected since the 1990s. Currently, the database primarily contains documents on cemeteries located in Ukraine (including Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv and part of the documentation on cemeteries in the former Tarnopol province), Lithuania (Rasos Cemetery in Vilnius), and Latvia (St. Michael's Cemetery in Riga). In the coming years, this part of the catalog will be expanded with the results of documentation work conducted as part of grant programs and acquired archival materials.

Each item in this catalog is associated with the project under which its documentation was carried out. In the project description, you will find details about the specific rules followed during the inventory process at a particular cemetery.
