A modernised reading of the text

25th anniversary of the Adam Sikora Park.

"The good deeds that remain after us are works that last despite the storm. Stars that beat with eternal light."

These words are fully applicable in the immortal deed, in the unforgettable work, in the great sacrifice of the late Adam Sikora, who 25 years ago donated a piece of land to the Polish population for a park for games and exercises for young people, for a place for excursions and festivals. This noble act of the generous benefactor has ensured that this compatriot lives and will live in the hearts of the public for all time.

The eager and hard-working hands of the schoolchildren have selflessly transformed this patch of land into a beautiful park. Generous donations from fellow countrymen poured in for equipment, buildings and improvements. At the time, all sorts of difficulties were devised to prevent us from accessing this park, to obstruct the work. However, under the protection of the Motherland, the park has become a treasure that has weathered all storms, and today shines brightly in the land of our ancestors, to the glory of the Motherland and for the benefit of the whole of Polish society.

For centuries we, the hosts of this land, have been handicapped. We had no place where, after toil and work, we could spend a few carefree moments among our own. The lack of such a cosy home was a pain in the neck. And here comes our Compatriot, the late Adam Sikora, who, through his arduous work, has brought us out of our misery. We no longer need Grabina, the fireman's meadow or the shooting range, because we have our own park, a patriotic gift of the late Adam Sikora.

Mother could not have given the park a more worthy name. Today, as the manager of this national treasure, she does her best to keep the park in a splendid condition, beautifying it year after year. She takes care of the trees, builds the necessary pavilions, erects monuments, castles and the "Alpina", and every year convenes everyone to the national festival, with a variety of attractions and events, of which the most prominent for a number of years has been the impressive performance by the combined choirs of the Polish Choir Association.

This year's national festival will take place on Sunday, 7 July. The programme of the fete includes, among other things, the unveiling of a monument to Adam Sikora, and this monument is to be a visible sign of the honour and tribute paid by our society to our noble Compatriot.
