Church in Szczurowice.

A Work of Effort of the Polish Society. From Szczurowice of the Radzych district they write to "East": On the former Austro-Russian border in Szczurowice the first victims of the World War fell. Szczurowice was almost abolished, ploughed through with trenches, not even remains of the buildings. The church also fell victim. Today, Szczurowice has rebuilt itself, with new houses, a large brick school and now a church is being built - a stronghold of Polishness in the Borderlands. The construction of this church is being carried out by the efforts of the community, the initiator and spearhead of the construction is the parish priest of Szczurowice, Rev. Canon Jan Witek.

Difficulties have not managed to discourage the persistent parish priest. He did not stop in his endeavours, and for several years appealed to generosity in all corners of the country: "For the construction of a church in Szczurowice, in the Eastern Borderlands". A few days ago, a ceremony was held to consecrate and raise the cross on the tower of the new church. The whole of Polish society from further and nearer areas took part in the ceremony, and a considerable number of Greek Catholics were noticed. Fr Witek, the parish priest, spoke from the pulpit, followed by Fr Professor Malik from Brody calling for work to strengthen the borders of the Republic.
