The Catholic cemetery in Drohobych was established around 1790. It is the burial place of many people of merit to the city. It contains tombstones with inscriptions in Polish, Ukrainian and Austrian. The oldest preserved tombstone with an inscription in German commemorates N.N. Ludwig. The cemetery has a neo-Gothic chapel from the second half of the 19th century, and a classicist gate leads to it. There are many interesting monuments and tombs, including crosses on pedestals, obelisks, monuments with figural sculpture, stele with religious representations, urns and other objects. Local stonemasons appear among the makers of the gravestones: Franciszek Langer, Franciszek Kus, I Lobos, T. Waligóra.

Documentation was made for the cemetery (782 tombstone cards) and a cemetery card (kept in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). Sebastian Nicieja gives the number of more than 1000 tombstones with Polish inscriptions (cf. S. As part of the grant programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Independence Foundation carried out restoration work on 52 Polish tombstones.
