The two weeping statues belong to a secondary group of statues in front of the Chapel of the Holy Cross, which was the chapel of the Nahlik family. It is not known on whose graves or where exactly they were originally situated.

The figures are made of limestone and most probably come from the gravestones in this cemetery. The time of the sculptures is determined to be around the 19th century. Given the place, time and stylistics of the sculptures, the probable authorship can be attributed to the studio of Anton Shimser.

In 2024, as part of the 'Protection' Programme, the Polonica Institute funded the second stage of work on the conservation of the two weeping statues (the first stage of conservation was carried out under the Minister's Programme 'Protection of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad'). The sculptures were coated with a strengthening preparation based on silicic acid esters. A ready-made mineral mortar was used for the restorations and reconstruction of the robes. For the structural reinforcement of larger cavities, wire rods and stainless steel screws were used, glued into epoxy resin. The surface of the figures was protected with a hydrophobic preparation. The restorations were unified with a sol-silicate-based colour coating, referring to the original colour scheme of the composition.
