Information about the object:
The historic Catholic Cemetery in Drohobych used to be the main town cemetery, where burghers were buried from the end of the 18th century. The cemetery itself is located on a high hill near the city centre. Much of the cemetery substance - including the tombstones - is damaged, overgrown and covered with leaves that no one cleans up.

Completed works:
The project consisted in carrying out restoration work on 52 Polish tombstones in the parish cemetery on Truskavetska Street in Drohobych (Lviv region, Ukraine). The following were cleaned: tombstones, crosses, pedestals and plinths, parts of broken crosses were joined. Cast-iron crosses were covered with anticorrosive paint and foundations, as well as fixings of slabs and broken crosses were made.

As a result of the work undertaken, more Polish graves have regained their former glory. This will help to cultivate the memory of the deceased Poles who once lived in Drohobych and the surrounding area, and will contribute to increasing interest in Polish national, cultural and historical heritage beyond the country's borders.
