Homage to the memory of Marshal Piłsudski. Golden oak in Zułów - symbolic dedication of 100 schools in Bezdany.

On Sunday, great celebrations were held in the restored Zułów, Marshal Piłsudski's birthplace, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland, Professor Ignacy Mościcki, Jozef Pilsudski's family, members of the government, general officers and numerous corporations and citizenships. After the service and after Minister Kościałkowski's speech, he asked the President of the R. P. and Mrs Marshal Piłsudski to perform the act of planting a golden-leaved oak at the place where Józef Piłsudski was born.

To the sounds of the 'First Brigade', the act of symbolic oak planting took place. After planting the oak, Mr President, accompanied by Mrs Marshal Piłsudski, toured the rebuilt Zułów and the Zułów memorabilia museum. Afterwards, Mr President and his closest entourage went to Bezdan, where a ceremony was held to symbolically dedicate 100 schools named after the First Marshal of Poland Jozef Pilsudski. During this ceremony, Mr President delivered the following speech:

"At the moment when all of Poland bowed its head in homage to the Heart of Józef Piłsudski, when that Heart was to rest at the feet of the Mother Commander of the Nation, the Government took the initiative to build 100 schools named after Marshal Józef Piłsudski. It is to the great credit of the Government that, in a period of fierce, consistent and fruitful struggle to balance the budget, it managed to raise the necessary funds to put this idea into practice. It is also to the great credit of the people of Vilnius that they helped in this endeavour and were able to complete the construction of schools in a short space of time. In this way both the Government and the citizens of Vilnius honoured the memory of the Great Leader and Father of the Nation.
