Information about the object:
Wikszany is a village in Romania in Bukovina. The Polish community, which has existed here since the mid-19th century, is becoming less and less numerous and the Polish heritage can be described as disappearing. Catholic-Orthodox cemeteries and the so-called old Polish cemetery with Polish tombstones.

Pojana Mikuli is one of the largest concentrations of Poles in Bukovina.

2023
The project planned a series of activities related to documentation and field inventory, cleaning up the space, collecting oral information about the documented sites, and education and dissemination of knowledge about Polish cultural heritage in Bukovina, Romania. Activities were geared towards networking and social memory. Volunteers were experts on Bukovina, students of the University of Zielona Góra and members of the "Głogowska Edukacja Kresowa" Association. The collected materials will be available in the database of the Polonica Institute, will be presented at six meetings in real and virtual space, and a website presenting the effects of the project and a report on it will be created.

The work was completed in October 2023.

2024
The aim of the project was to document the cemetery and the oldest crosses and wayside shrines in the Polish part of Pojana Mikula. It was a continuation of the work of GEK volunteers in Bukovina. The project involved a series of activities related to documentation and inventory, collection of oral information about the documented objects, and education and dissemination of knowledge about Polish cultural heritage in Bukovina, Romania. Volunteers included members of the GEK, experts on Bukovina and students from the University of Zielona Góra. The collected materials were transferred to the database of the Polonika Institute and were also presented in the media and at dissemination meetings in Poland and Romania. A website, a reportage and a film about the implementation of the project and its effects were created.
