Biography:

Jan Antoni Jung (1829-1905), born in Warsaw, son of Antoni Jung and Julienne Koltz, watchmaker and pensioner.

On 12 August 1858, in Paris, he married Alexandrine Anna Lemoigne (b. 11 August 1828, Paris), daughter of the bookseller Honoré Lemoigne and Catherine Alexandrine Roubé. The civil wedding took place at the maypole of the 14th arrondissement and the church ceremony at Sainte Madeleine. At the time of the wedding, Jung was 28 years old and lived at Place Vendôme 23, while his wife lived at Place Vendôme 26, with her parents. Witnesses to the ceremony included Joseph Rusteyko, professor (aged 30, domiciled at Batignolles, rue Lemercier 271), and Alexandre Dembinski, rentier (aged 48, domiciled in Paris, rue Oudinot 20) (AdP AM, Actes reconstitués de l'état civil de Paris).

The marriage produced a daughter, Anna Antoinette Jung (b. 7 May 1859), who married Pierre Marie Joseph Désiré Chevallier (d. 23 October 1912) on 27 January 1883 (AdP AD Paris 16e no. 1585, 24 October 1912). Anne Antoinette died on 28 March 1907 and was buried on 30 March 1907. (AdP AD Paris 16e no. 579 of 1907).

John Antoinette was granted French citizenship in 1859. He died on 5 October 1905 in his flat at 3 rue Mazagran in Paris, aged 76. His body, after a service at the parish church of Saint Eugène, was buried on 7 October 1905 in the Père Lachaise cemetery (concession no. 314-1873, annual no. 285).

Among those signing the obituary were his daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs Mary Chevallier, granddaughter Marguerite Chevallier, Alfred Lemoigne and his wife (brother and sister-in-law), nephews and niece Paul, Emile, Maurice and Mathilde Lemoigne, and family from Warsaw (MLW hourglass French).
