Soldiers' quarters of the Home Army

During World War II, soldiers of the 27th Volhynian Infantry Division of the Home Army and members of the self-defence who died in battles against the Germans and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army in various localities in Volhynia were buried in this cemetery, including. In Gruszówka, Horodec, Janówka, Lublatyn, Nowy Dwór, Osiecznik, Osieków, Ośmigowicze, Oździutycze, Peresieka Jeziorańska, Popowicze, Rewuszki, Stanisłówka, Stara Dąbrowa, Szczurzyn, Turopin, Witomierz, Woron, Zadybach, Zasmyki, Zielona. Eighty-two names of those buried are known.

After World War II, the cemetery was devastated, and later the abandoned necropolis was overgrown with vegetation. At the beginning of the 1990s the environment of former soldiers of the 27th ID of the AK, with a very favourable attitude of the local authorities, brought the cemetery to order. Unfortunately, the soldiers' burials in the cemetery were impossible to find and identify. As a result, a symbolic AK soldiers' plot was created to the right of the cemetery entrance. Ninety-three burial mounds were created and a simple cross was placed at each of them. A high cross and a monument in the shape of an altar were placed in the central place, and a plaque with the names of the buried was placed near it. Plaques and emblems informing that this is the burial place of the soldiers of the 27th WDP AK were placed on the gate of the quarters; these elements were designed by the visual artist Kazimierz Danilewicz, a former soldier of this division. The ceremony of consecration of the cemetery took place on 13 September 1992 with the participation of many priests and personalities from Poland and Ukraine. The cemetery was consecrated by bishop Slawoj Leszek Glodz.
