Novgorod museum in the "House of Mickiewicz"

The text mentions an exhibition of Mickiewicz memorabilia created on the initiative of the Society for the Development of Eastern Lands. The exhibition is located in a house called 'Dworek Mickiewicza' (Source: 'Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny', Krakow 1936, R. 27, no. 41, p. 10, after: Małopolska Biblioteka Cyfrowa).

A modernised reading of the text

Novogrudok museum in "Mickiewicz's house".

Wandering around the Vilnius and Novgorod regions, we come across many Mickiewicz books and objects related to him and his surroundings in private houses. An exhibition of Mickiewicz memorabilia held a few years ago in Novogrudok included many photographs, portraits, books and objects. On the initiative of the Society for the Development of Eastern Lands, a project was conceived to buy the house of the so-called 'Mickiewicz Manor' from private hands for the benefit of the state and to create a museum of Mickiewicz memorabilia there.

"Mickiewicz's Manor", located on Mickiewicz Street in Novogrudok, has a plaque built into it; unfortunately, it is the only sign that it is Mickiewicz's house! For the house is rented as a private dwelling! This house should belong to everyone, be under the care of the state, be a museum remembering the bard. All the memorabilia scattered in private hands should be there! The "Dworek Mickiewicza" should be bought, restored and turned into a museum. This was the idea put forward by the aforementioned Society - now is not the time to realise it.
