In Český Těšín there was a plaque commemorating King Jan III Sobieski, unveiled in 1933 on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of his victory over the Turkish army at the Battle of Vienna. Although King Jan III Sobieski did not pass through Český Těšín on his way to the battle, part of his army under the command of Hetman Mikołaj Hieronim Sieniawski was stationed in Cieszyn for several days. The commemoration was placed in a park named after Adam Sikora, a Polish social activist and philanthropist. The plaque bore the following inscription: "ON THE 250th ANNIVERSARY OF THE DECEPTION OF VENNA / IN WITNESS OF THE BOHATHERSHIP OF KING / JOAN III SOBIESKI / AND IN MEMORY OF THE MARCH / OF HIS WINNING BRANCH / UNDER HETM POLN SIENIAWSKI'S WATER / THROUGH CIESZIN IN AUGUST 1683 / Poles in Czechoslovakia. / In September 1933."
