In honour of Pulaski.

The celebrations in honour of Casimir Pulaski in Savannah will begin early in the morning on October 9. A group of prominent figures from the City of Savannah, representatives of the Polish, French and other governments will make their way to the Tybee seacoast where wreaths will be thrown on the ocean waves. This is because General Pulaski was buried at sea after being taken from the battlefield at Savannah to the American ship where he died. A memorial service will be held at 10am at Park Extension.

The Mass will be celebrated by the Bishop of Baltimore. The service will be attended by the local military garrison and delegations from numerous US Army regiments. A military parade will take place in the afternoon. Troops will proceed to the Casimir Pulaski Monument, where wreaths will be laid. Further celebrations will take place at Park Extension, where commemorative speeches will be given.

On the same day, commemorative plaques will be unveiled: on the grave of Capt Denis de Cottineau in the Colonial Cemetery and a plaque in memory of Casimir Pulaski, French troops, South Carolina soldiers and all those who participated in the Siege of Savannah. The content of the inscriptions on the plaques is being developed by a special committee. The government of the United States has asked the Polish Embassy in Washington to send representatives of both the civilian population and the army to the ceremonies commemorating the 150th anniversary of the death of the American national hero, Casimir Pulaski.

The civilian delegation is to include Waclaw Sieroszewski, MP Cieplak and Minister Plenipotentiary Pulaski. The military delegation will consist of Col. Zahorski, Lt. Col. Glogowski and Lt. Zarychta. The delegation will depart on 25 September. It will travel from New York to Savannah and Washington, DC. The military delegation is likely to visit Chicago and cavalry schools in Texas and Kansas.
