BUDAPEST. A solemn service was held in the Polish church in connection with the formation of a circle of Hungarian Polish legionaries in Budapest. The service was followed by a march to the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, the Legionaries' monument and the memorial plaque to Marshal Józef Piłsudski, where Major Polakiewicz laid a wreath. In the afternoon, an inaugural meeting of the circle was held in the local casino, with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence and, on behalf of the Polish Embassy, the military attaché Colonel Emisarski and Secretary Królikowski present.

During the meeting, the delegate of the Supreme Command of the Legionary Union, Major Polakiewicz, made a longer speech, emphasising the gratitude of the Polish nation and all comrades-in-arms to those 400 Hungarians who, during the hardest period, 1914-1918, joined the Legions and thus became the first soldiers of independent Poland. A visible sign of the recognition of the Polish state," concluded Major Polakiewicz, "is the 214 Crosses of Independence and several dozen medals that the President of the Republic of Poland awarded to Hungarians - former Legionaries. After Major Polakiewicz's speech, the list of the decorated was read out, with the answer to 30 names being: "fallen on the field of glory".

Then a representative of the Supreme Command of the Legionnaires' Union and the military attaché of the Polish Embassy, on behalf of the absent Polish MP, decorated the former legionnaires present at the meeting. On the occasion of the decoration, Major Polakiewicz emphasised that Hungarian legionaries are highly valued in Poland as sons of a friendly nation who fought for Poland's freedom, and invited all Hungarian legionaries to a legionary reunion on 6 August in Kraków, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the departure of the 1st Cadre Company.

In response, the past president of the Hungarian legionnaires, Miklosi, in warm words, thanked the representative of the Supreme Command of the Legionnaires' Union for the remembrance of the Polish legionnaires about their Hungarian colleagues and for the honour they were receiving through the decorations awarded. The assembly decided to send a tribute message to Regent Horthy, Mr President of the Republic, Marshal Śmigły-Rydz, Prime Minister Składkowski, Prime Minister Imredy, Minister Beck and Minister Ulrych.
