Feliks Topolski (1907-1989) was a Polish painter and draughtsman. He received his education at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts under Tadeusz Pruszkowski, where he was a member of the Free Painters' Lodge group. He then went to work in Italy, France and Great Britain. From 1935, he worked in London as a correspondent for "Wiadomości Literackie". During the Second World War, he was interested in war convoys or the formation of General Anders' army. He witnessed the fighting against Japan in Burma, but also spent time in China and India. Even after the war, he created portraits of personalities such as the writer Herbert George Wells or the politician Harold Macmillan. He also painted murals. Between 1953 and 1979, he published a biweekly magazine, 'Topolski's Chronicles', with a circulation of around 2,000 copies. It contained texts on current political, social and cultural events and Topolski's drawings. In 1938, he illustrated a newly created edition of George Bernard Shaw's books. He was a member of the Royal Academy and an accredited painter at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953. One of his paintings, The Assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, adorns the interior of the presidential palace in New Delhi.
