Polish Chapel in the Papal Basilica of St Anthony in Padua

In 1592, Polish students from the University of Padua decided that they wanted to build a Polish chapel and crypt in St Anthony's Basilica. The Franciscans in charge of the basilica entrusted them with a space in the northern nave of the church. The chapels were consecrated in 1607 and named after St Stanislaus.
Seven tombstones and epitaphs can be found at the altar, commemorating:
- Stefan Ubaldini, a scientist from Lviv,
. - Stanislaw Minski, who died in 1607, advisor to King Sigismund III and delegate to Pope Clement VIII for the canonisation of Jacek Odrowaz,
. - Aleksander Kazimierz Sapieha, who died in 1619. (epitaph),
- Krzysztof Sapieha, Grand Chamberlain of Lithuania, who died in 1637 (epitaph),
- Stanisław Fritznekier, Doctor of Philosophy and Medicine, who died in 1690.

In addition, in the chapel you can see:
- the foundation slab of the crypt and the altar of St. Stanislaus from 1607,
- a plaque commemorating the founding of the Polish Chapel of St Stanislaus in 1899,
- plate with a devotional inscription from the crypt and Polish altar from 1607,
- two bronze busts of Erazm Kretkowski (1558) and Jan III Sobieski (1905).
