The article describes Tarnoruda, including the history of this village dating back to the 17th century. Tarnoruda, with a church famous for its miracles.

How widely Polish speech flourishes, who has not heard about the Lord Jesus of Tarnorud, who was pleased to bestow graces and miracles from a small town on the banks of the Zbruch river, crowned with the mountains of Myodobórz, on that nation, which, bearing His holy cross, placed all its hopes and all its future in Him? But before I tell the story of the temple which has shone with numerous miracles for two centuries, we should first mention the origins of the town of Tarnovo and its later history. The origins of the old Tarnoruda can be traced back no further than the 17th century, as can be seen from the foundation of the church established here in that century, even though the church visitors' book says -.

The church visitation book says "that in the old Tarnoruda, located on the right side of the Zbruch river, there was a parish church in disrepair, only it is not known when and from whom it was built; after a new church was built in 1754, it was demolished".

The foundation of this new church is attributed to Katarzyna Sieniawska of Sztemberg, and the Czartoryski family. Apparently there is some confusion here which can easily be resolved: Katarzyna Anna of Sztemberg Kostkówna, Sandomierz voivode, heiress of Zinkowo, Satanowo and Szkłowo and at that time crown chamberlain, Sieniawska, assisted by her husband Adam Hieronim (founder of the gothic parish church in Międzyboż Podolski in 1600) in the foundation charter issued in 1643. 1643 d. 4 August in Brzeżany on the Golden Lime River, expresses:

"when you have nothing surer in the world than the glory of God, for His honour and the salvation of my fellow men I am founding this church". .

This erection was laid down in the castle of Trembovljsk in 1664, which means that it refers to the church (of unknown origin, as they claim) located in the old town of Tarnovo in the former Podolia province, after the Kamieniec voivodeship. It is certain, however, that when the Sieniawski estate passed to the Ruthenian voivode in 1728, together with the widowed Donhoff Sophia, the Duchy of Augustow and Czartoryski, seeing the church founded by the Crown Chamberlain destroyed, founded the temple still standing in the new Tarnorudzie, a town probably established on the left side of the Zbruch River in the early 18th century.

This church, depicted here in a woodcut, after the foundations were laid on 16 May 1748, was completed in 1754 under the emblem of the former N. P. Maria Scapular. In the same year, the miraculously famous painting of Lord Jesus, which had long been in the possession of Duninowa Borkowska, the starostess of Strzygok, was bequeathed to the church from the Gorzowskis and passed from house to house.

The church, founded by the Czartoryski princes, stands on a hill and is built of stone in a rectangular form, of a gothic structure, with its front turned to the south; to the east and west, it is supported by buttresses, and above the church rises a cupola with an iron cross and an ave-bell. The façade of the church is magnificent, outlined in an oblong square, and at the bottom of this is a masonry grille with railings. Above this façade rises a porch with iron balustrade, and on either side of it two stone statues of the apostles Peter and Paul with the inscription at the top:

"Respice Domine in hanc faciem Ecclesiae tuae" ("Look, Lord, at the face of your temple").

Inside the central façade is a freshly decorated garden; further above the cornices rises a triangle with Divine Providence. The church vaulting is cracked due to the strong earthquake of r. 1802 d. 11 August, was reinforced with four anchors. The church cemetery is surrounded by a wall with two turrets, one of which houses the bell tower and the statue of St. John of Nepomuk above the gate leading into the church. A zealous worker in the Lord's vineyard, Fr Teodor Makowski, the local parish priest, has contributed a great deal to the beautification of his church and has not ceased in this work to date.

The great altar contains the image of the Lord Jesus, famous for his graces, in a gilded square frame, darkened with age, with features barely visible and arms as if extending to both sides of the Zbruch. Above the head of the Lord Jesus a crown of thorns of silver, gilded in places, a silver mantle with a knot and with the inscription at the bottom:
"The people flee to Thee in their needs, Jesus, from Thee mercy awaits!". The local parish consists of 10 villages. For their purely Polish names I cite some: Zajączki, Kaniówka, Lipówka, Hreczana, Wygnanka and so on.

During the first partition of Poland, the old Tarnoruda together with the Czerwonogrodzkie district became part of Austria, while the new one came under Russian rule. Do I have to conclude this description with the numerous miracles from the God-Man that flowed down from here onto our nation? No... He who has grown up on miracles, matures with miracles, may he sing merciful miracles in his soul. We received the following message from one of our gracious readers: Dear Editor!

In No. 127 of the "Tygodnik Ilustrowany", in the weekly chronicle, I read an answer to the accusations made against women for superfluities, vanity, wasting time, neglecting duties, following foreigners and other vices. Surely these are bitter truths, but that they are justified is more than certain, and not to admit guilt would be a sin. That is why an excerpt from a lady's letter, quoted in the Chronicle, caught my attention and prompted me to write this proclamation, by means of which I would like to convince the general public of women, should it come to light.

The lady I have mentioned writes there, explaining, as if it were women and blaming our bad behaviour on men, that by their mercy we are vain, we overindulge to please them, we dress up and neglect our duties for them, etc. I do not share this opinion at all, because such humiliation of ourselves voluntarily frightens me. It would be a shame for women to consider themselves so passive that they cannot even do wrong themselves. But this is not the case. We ourselves are to blame for everything, so let the public blame us, not men; we ourselves have sinned, we ourselves should rise from these sins, and first admit our guilt.

Acknowledging our guilt halves it, because it gives us hope for improvement, while shifting the blame, even if it is for one's own humiliation, onto someone else is only an excuse to stay as long as possible under the cover of some supposed weakness and passivity, explaining to oneself:

"We are not to blame for this, it is the men who are to blame, they made us this way".

Oh horror! oh shame! - and to admit this to a woman-Polish woman!... Men will willingly accept this guilt, precisely because they are innocent.
