T.S.L. Folk House in Synowódzko Vyšné

A short note mentions the village of Synowódzko Wyżne, where a new People's House is being built to replace the old building intended for a school and the "Społem" cooperative. There is also a wooden church in this village (Source: "Wschód", Lviv 1937, no. 69, p. 11, after: Jagiellonian Digital Library).

A modernised reading of the text

In Synowódzko Vyshne the T.S.L. People's House for all organizations.

On the slope of the Central Carpathians, in the basin of the Stryja and Opor rivers, lies the village of Synowódzko Vyšné. This settlement, thanks to the Godula company, owner of large areas of forest and sawmills - is, besides agriculture, also a large industrial centre, employing about 1,200 workers and dozens of clerks with their families. Synowódzko has a wooden church, built about 30 years ago, an old People's House which houses the schoolroom of a one-classroom, purely Polish school, as well as the "Społem" Polish Cooperative and the Z.S. day-room. The old, dilapidated, modest building itself no longer meets the needs of the population. It also suffers from the lack of a larger hall for meetings and for ceremonial academies and games.

The head of the collective commune, Mr Powroznický, set up a building committee consisting of representatives of the local societies, i.e. the T.S.L., the Co-operative Society, the Riflemen's Association and the Reservists' Association. The matter of building the People's House moved forward. The committee decided to build it on the land of the T.S.L. The plan provided for the following premises: the shop of the "Społem" co-operative, the office and common room of the Riflemen's Association, a schoolroom with recreation and living quarters for the teacher, a common room and library of the T.S.L., a common room for the Reservists' Association, and a large common theatre room. The cost of this magnificent building was calculated at around 50,000 zloty.

Thanks to the generosity of the Governor of Stanislawow, Mr Paslawski, who supported the Committee's action with an outlay of 4,500 zloty, and thanks to the public's proper understanding of the needs and the generous support of the Labour Fund's director, Mr Piotrowski, and the Stryi district governor, Mr Harmata, in June this year, the Committee commenced the construction of the house, brought it under the roof and covered it with sheet metal. Godula, who gave the Committee 350 m³ of building timber, worth about 6000 zlotys, and moreover gave 300 zlotys in cash.

For such a civic act, sincere gratitude is due to the general manager Mr Stadnikiewicz, Oswida and Eng Orlicz. Małopolska Spółka Drzewna, through its director, Mr Lutwak, subsidised the construction with 2,000 zlotys in cash and 3,200 zlotys worth of by-products and sawn material. The "Społem" co-operative supported the construction with 3,600 zloty in cash, and the T.S.L. with land for the construction and 2,000 zloty in cash. Unfortunately, it is necessary to further appeal to the generosity of the authorities and the public to bring the work begun to completion and have a practical benefit.
