Reconstruction of the Olesko castle.

Under the chairmanship of the Deputy Governor of Ternopil, Mr Rogowski, a meeting was held of the Committee for the Rebuilding of Olesko Castle, which had been initiated in 1933 by the Committee for the Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Victory at Vienna. The reconstruction of Olesko Castle is continuing and has produced serious results. The meeting of the Olesko Castle Reconstruction Committee was attended by Prof. Eng. Witold Minkiewicz, Warden Mr. Pawlikowski, Warden Eng. Burgielski, Zloczów District Starost Plachta, Conservation Officer Dr. Hornung, Referendary Redner, Mayor of Olesko Stachowski, Eng. Majewski, Dr. Pawel Garapich and others. The inspection showed that between 1 February 1935 and 10 June 1939 the Committee's general receipts amounted to about 73,000 zloty. Approximately 63,000 zlotys were spent on the works and the remainder of about 10,000 zlotys remains at the further disposal of the Reconstruction Committee. Works around the Olesko castle are progressing, first the stucco work in the tower rooms and the castle chapel, then the complete reconstruction of the ceilings, roof trusses, cornices, chimneys and the plain tile roofing over the north wing. In 1937, a similar reconstruction of the entire roof over the south wing was carried out. In 1938, after surveying and testing the ground, the reconstruction of the arcade access to the chateau began and the concrete foundations for the 4 pillars of the access were made. In 1939 further work is planned for the reconstruction of the arcade access, at a cost of about 25,000 zł.
