POLISH GRAVES IN MONACHIUM.

There are three Polish graves in the South Cemetery in Munich. One of them, that of Zygmunt Krasiński's friend Konstanty Danielewicz, is perfectly preserved, and on each death anniversary an unknown hand places a pons rose on it. Two others: that of a major in the Polish army, Ruprecht, and the mass grave of Polish emigrants are leaning into decay. In particular, the alabaster cross on the emigrants' grave, cracked by frost and damp, will probably not survive the winter. In this grave lie the corpses of Poles who, in the turmoil of 63, were thrown onto the cobblestones of Munich, where they then found a sympathetic reception.

Among them were rich and poor, small people and people of significance, united by a common idea, here in a foreign land by a common grave. The Society of Working Poles looked after it for as long as it had the means; today, the few members, mostly craftsmen, are struggling against the poverty prevailing in Germany and the national hatred that makes life difficult for them, so they can no longer bear the burden alone.

It would be right, therefore, that the families of the deceased living in the country and people of good will should help by making a monetary donation to the editors of the "Tygodnik Ilustrowany", who will then send it to the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Munich, who is collaborating with the Society of Polish Workers in the care of the graves, but who does not have the money for the restoration of the tombstones, which according to the cost estimate will amount to 700 mk.
