Dedication of the new church in Siedliska near Lviv

A short note describes the dedication ceremony of the newly built church in Siedliska in the Lviv district. The guests who came to the ceremony are mentioned, as well as the consecration itself, performed by Rev. Canon Gaszczyński. The land for the church was donated by Count Ordynat Potocki of Łańcut (Source: "Wschód", Lviv 1937, no. 52, p. 9, after: Jagiellonian Digital Library).

Consecration of the church in Siedliska near Lviv.

A few days ago, a ceremony was held to consecrate a newly built church in Siedliska (Lviv district), with the participation of about 2,000 people from the surrounding villages of Lviv and Beograd districts. The ceremony was attended by the head of the Lviv district, Mr Zamecznik, and the deputy head of the district, Dr Dembowski, the deputy head of the district, Mr Bilinski, from Boberka, the dean of Stara Siólo, the school inspector, Mr Ohly, the chief director of Count Potocki's estate, Mr Kielski, the district doctor, Dr Kurzeja, Eng. Szczurkiewicz, Dr Kuhn from Dawidów, forest inspectors Mr Sawiński from Stare Sioła and Mr Ryński from Podciemne, administrator Mr Biederman from Suchodół, director Mr Niedźwiedzki, Mr Henryk and administrator Mr Stanisław Biesiadecki from Hanaczówka, mayor Mr Swoboda from Dawidów and many other invited guests from Lviv and the surrounding area.

After a solemn welcome to the starost Mr. Zamecznik by Rev. Canon Gieszczyński and Director Madejewski from Tolszczów, Rev. Canon Gieszczyński consecrated the newly built church, which stood in a place dominating the whole area, on land donated by Ordynat Count Potocki from Łańcut. After the Mass, which was celebrated by Father Catechist Kuchta, a patriotic sermon was preached by Father Dean Blicharski, followed by an impassioned, profound speech by the starost Mr Zamecznik. This was followed by speeches by delegates of the Church Building Committee, and then a parade of troops from the Riflemen's Association, Reservists, Fire Brigade and bands from the surrounding villages, which was received by starost Mr Zamecznik.

The ceremony was well attended by children and teachers from nearby schools, and after the ceremony the invited guests were treated to lunch by Mr and Mrs Gostomski from Siedliska. At the end, a folk party was held, attended by the invited guests. The building of this new bastion of Polishness in Siedliska is to the credit of Director Madejewski, as was repeatedly pointed out in the speeches.
