Committed to preserving and fostering the Polish spirit amongst our young people, the management of St Stanislaus Kostka College organised a triple national commemoration on 25 October: the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Vienna, - the 150th anniversary of Kościuszko being granted US citizenship in recognition of his services to the United States, which was commemorated this year with the issue of a special postage stamp bearing Kościuszko’s likeness; and finally, the third commemoration – the 154th anniversary of the death of General Kazimierz Pułaski, who gave his life in the fight for the independence of the United States. It was a splendid programme, presided over with great enthusiasm by Father Jan Grabowski, C. R., took place in the College building on Haddon Ave., just off Milwaukee Ave.

The programme as a whole consisted of well-prepared speeches and recitations by the College’s students. It should be noted that the programme items were interspersed with musical pieces performed by the College’s own orchestra, which showed great promise. Finally, once the performances had concluded, the Rector, Father Mieczysław Starzyński, C. R., stood up to congratulate the students on their excellent organisation of the programme and gave the floor to the editor of the *Dziennik Chicagowski*, Mr J. Przydatko, President of the Polish Journalists’ Union in America.
