History of the parish in Machlinec and its church
The history of the village of Machlinec dates back to the beginning of the third decade of the 19th century, when it was founded for settlers brought from Bohemia. The establishment of the parish was related to the pressure of German settlers.

At first, only a small wooden chapel was built in the village, the design of which was approved in 1838. It was built by a certain W. Klafs and consecrated in 1842. 16 years later efforts to build a brick parish church started. The foundation stone was laid in 1860 and the church was consecrated in 1868.

After the outbreak of the Second World War, in 1939, the German settlers living in Machliniec left the village. From 1942, for nearly 20 years, the building was used as an Orthodox church. Closed down in 1960, the church deteriorated until its extensive renovation in 1995, which significantly changed its architecture, bringing its character closer to that of an Orthodox church.

Architecture
The Holy Trinity Church in Machlinec is a brick and plastered building. It consists of a three-bay nave and a slightly lower, single-span chancel, to which two rectangular annexes have been added, housing the sacristy and the treasury. The interior of the church is devoid of articulation. We also find a wooden choir supported by two pillars.

Originally, all rooms were covered with ceilings, but during a major renovation in 1995, the nave received a pseudo-vaulted polygonal ceiling. The roofs of the nave and chancel are gabled, while the roofs over the annexes are multi-pitched.

The temple has a three-bay façade topped by a triangular pediment. On its axis is the entrance to the church and a semicircular window.

Equipment
The furnishings of the church in Machliniec were dispersed and destroyed after the church was abandoned in the second half of the 20th century. An inventory from 1938 shows that even in the inter-war period, the church in Machliniec had three altars, of which the main one had two oil paintings on canvas (depicting Sts. The main altar had two oil paintings on canvas (depicting St John of Nepomuk and the Holy Trinity), while the side altars on either side of the rainbow arch had one painting each, also in oil on canvas (depicting the Virgin Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus).

The church also contained other furnishings, such as a pulpit with representations of the Evangelists, an organ, gilded vessels and liturgical vestments. There are also memories of paintings and sculptures in the church, depicting figures of the Virgin Mary, Christ and saints and angels.

In the 1890s, the church was decorated with a ceiling painting, which, however, has not survived to the present day. In the chancel, an anonymous artist painted the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, while the nave was decorated with a cross against a starry sky.
