Biography:

Aleksander Antoni Dybowski (1850-1914), born in Tulle, son of Józef Dybowski and Kamila Euzebia Kosiorowska. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure from 1872 to 1875 and obtained the degree of agrégé des sciences physiques in 1875. He taught physical and natural sciences at high schools: in Algiers (1875-1877), Montpellier (1880-1881), Angoulême (1881-1882), Marseille (1882-1884), at the Lycée Charlemagne in Paris (1884-1891) and at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris from 1891. From 1877 to 1889 he was on a scientific mission to Japan, where he was professor at the polytechnic in Cepays. In 1894, he married Caroline Marguerite Krick in Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées).
