Graveyard of the Polish specs of Vietka

Vietka was one of the many specks in which Poles, deported by the NKVD during World War II from the territories occupied after 17.09.1939 by the USSR, were forcibly settled. About 300 Polish families were housed here. The deportees worked in inhuman conditions and died of exhaustion and disease.
The dead were buried in the cemetery located near the specposiolk; local residents claim that about 200 burials took place here. In the 1970s the surviving grave crosses were used for firewood by seasonal workers. In 2002, the remains of the cemetery were inspected by the Memorial Club of the Children's House of Creativity from the town of Jemwa. A memorial cross was erected in the cemetery.
