Biography:

Polish graphic artist and academic teacher. He was involved in book graphics, woodcuts and lithography. He mastered this technique during his apprenticeship at the Warsaw Sheet Metal and Tinware Factory. In 1905, he took up a job there as a chromolithographer. In the evenings, he attended drawing courses and lectures on Polish history and literature. Between 1906 and 1909, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, and then between 1910 and 1913 at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. From 1917 he taught at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1925 he joined the Association of Polish Graphic Artists "Ryt". From 1930 he chaired the Department of Applied Graphics at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts. After the war, he was a professor and pro-rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He is buried in the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw (cemetery section 188-3-34).
