Grave of the victims of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA)

The village was founded after 1922, in 1939 the population exceeded 800. During World War II, soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army attacked the inhabitants of this village several times, murdering individuals. The largest number of Poles were killed on 5-7 April 1944, when the Ukrainian Insurgent Army carried out two attacks on the village. At least several dozen people died then.
On orders from the Germans, the victims of the April attacks were buried by Ukrainians in a mass grave near the Ukrainian cemetery in Pawlikówka-Czereszeńki. Some families managed to bury the dead individually, but the names of these people are not known.
The grave has been preserved to the present day. In 1996, former villagers and descendants of the victims carried out a makeshift clean-up of the grave.
