Graves of Poles who died in exile after World War II

Piskunovka was one of many places in the USSR where Poles arrested by the NKVD were forcibly resettled. In 1944, Poles from the town of Verenovo in the Lida district, among others, were brought here. The settlement also housed Lithuanians deported by the Soviet authorities. The deportees worked in taiga logging until 1955.
Those who died of exhaustion and disease were buried in the local cemetery. One of those buried was Viktor Hajdul, who died in February 1955. In 1975, the cemetery was abandoned and neglected, but Hajdul's grave was fenced.
