Biography:

Ksawery Ludwik Dybowski (1852-1919), born in Tulle, son of Józef Dybowski and Kamila Kosiorowska. Graduate of the agricultural school at Grignon. Director of the Pré Caletan farm in Neuilly-sur-Seine (1872, 1884), then agricultural engineer in Adabazar in Asiatic Turkey (1908, 1913). In 1904, he served as agricultural engineer and inspector of silkworm breeding at the Ottoman Public Debt. In 1888, in Paris, he married Sophie Marie Cécile Savouré (1845-1913), a painter, daughter of Louis Marie Mathieu Savouré and Amélie Duhanot. Naturalised in France on 31 May 1890 (decree no. 33.916). Died on 16 January 1919 in the shipwreck of the s/s Chaounia, which ran into a sea mine near the island of Stromboli in the Mediterranean; temporarily buried in Messina.
