In honour of a Pole - hero of the American Civil War.

A solemn celebration of the 50th anniversary of the death of General Włodzimierz Krzyżanowski, one of the heroes of the American Civil War, organiser and leader of the so-called Polish Legion, was held in New York on 31st of last month.

The celebration was attended by representatives of the US Army and Polish and American veterans. After Mass at St Stanislaus Church, a memorial service was held over the general's grave in Greenwood Cemetery. An academy was held in the evening.
