Biography:

Szczepan Wesoły (1926-2018), born in Katowice, archbishop associated with the pastoral care of Polonia. Deported to forced labour during the war, he remained in the West after 1945. He studied in Rome and was ordained a priest in 1956. In 1968, he became Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Gniezno, from 1980 to 2003 he was the Polish Primate's delegate for emigration and Rector of St Stanislaus Church in Rome. In 1994, he received the title of archbishop ad personam.
